Guyana’s Digital Revolution: How One Country is Upskilling its Workforce
As the world becomes increasingly digital, countries are recognizing the need to upskill their workforce to remain competitive. Guyana, a small country in South America, is taking a proactive approach to this challenge. Through a partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), Guyana is launching the “One Guyana Digital” initiative, aiming to equip 2,000 citizens with the skills needed to thrive in the tech industry.
Guyana’s digital transformation is underway
The initiative is part of Guyana’s goal to position itself as a global digital services hub and build a domestic outsourcing/near-sourcing industry. By partnering with TMU, Guyana is providing its citizens with access to world-class training and job opportunities in the tech sector.
Training for In-Demand Skills
The full stack developer program, offered by The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, is designed to equip students with the technical skills and practical experience needed to excel as web and software developers. The program consists of four courses covering end-to-end development, including full stack developer, Python programming, design for mobile devices, and user experience design.
