The initiative, scheduled to begin in early 2025, will kick off with Python programming integrated into seventh and eighth-grade Lego Robotics classes. As Kirtland’s Superintendent Chad VanArnhem noted, this integration aims to provide students with “industry-authentic workforce experience and real-world software development projects alongside the important skills that students are developing in their courses.”

According to a district presentation, the plan includes a structured nine-to-12 week rotation in Python for seventh graders and eighth graders in the 2025-26 school year.
