Preparing Undergraduate Researchers for Success: Justice in Data Online Bootcamp
The world of data science is rapidly evolving, and undergraduate researchers need to stay ahead of the curve. To address this need, a free online bootcamp is being offered to teach data science skills tailored for water and energy research, with a focus on justice in data.
The bootcamp, which will take place from May 20th to 31st, is designed to prepare undergraduate researchers for success in their field. Through Microsoft Teams, participants will learn the basics of Python programming, FAIR data principles, and machine learning, all within a justice in data theme. The goal is to equip students with the skills to find, access, and work with data in a way that makes it reusable by other researchers.
Learning data science skills for water and energy research
Applicants should ideally have a summer research experience lined up or express a genuine interest in a research-based graduate degree, although this is not required. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a mentoring relationship over the summer, culminating in an online research symposium.

All students affiliated with US universities who complete the program will earn a Justice in Data Fellowship award of at least $400. This is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduate researchers to gain valuable skills and experience in data science.
