The 1 Billion Followers Summit, organized by the New Media Academy, has unveiled new programs, initiatives, and ambassadors for its highly anticipated third edition. The summit, themed “Content for Good,” aims to drive positive impact in the digital media landscape. With the introduction of new ambassadors, a funding program, and a $1M award for purpose-driven content, the summit is set to make a significant impact.

The summit’s mission is to drive positive impact both regionally and globally, fueled by groundbreaking ideas generated during the preparatory meetings. The event will feature a series of announcements, including the introduction of new ambassadors, a funding program, and a $1M award for content creators whose work embodies the “Content for Good” theme and generates a positive impact on communities.

“The upcoming edition underscores 1 Billion Followers Summit’s mission to drive positive impact both regionally and globally, fueled by the groundbreaking ideas generated during these preparatory meetings.” - Her Excellency Alia Al Hammadi, CEO of the New Media Academy

The summit’s preparatory meetings unveiled a US$1 million prize for content creators whose work embodies the “Content for Good” theme and generates a positive impact on communities. The audience will have the power to nominate their favorite content creators for this award, and shortlisted finalists will be determined by public vote, with the ultimate winners selected by a panel of experts during the 3-day summit.

In addition to the award, the summit also unveiled the 1BPitches, a key program for the upcoming summit and an initiative to provide funding and support for content creators with groundbreaking ideas. The program underscores the summit’s dedication to fostering innovation and empowering media and content entrepreneurs.

Participants will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to major investors and businesses seeking to sponsor innovative projects. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their ideas through the summit’s website.

The meetings also unveiled the 1 Billion Followers Summit Ambassadors, which include Ahmed El Ghandour, and the Anazala Family including Anas Marwah and Asala Maleh, who will help promote the event and amplify its mission.

In other news, Mistral, the French AI startup backed by Microsoft and valued at $6 billion, has released its first generative AI model for coding, dubbed Codestral. The model is designed to help developers write and interact with code, and was trained on over 80 programming languages, including Python, Java, C++, and JavaScript.

Codestral can complete coding functions, write tests, and “fill in” partial code, as well as answer questions about a codebase in English. However, the model’s license prohibits the use of Codestral and its outputs for any commercial activities, which may limit its adoption.

The release of Codestral has sparked debate over the wisdom of relying on code-generating models as programming assistants. While some developers are embracing generative AI tools for at least some coding tasks, others are concerned about the potential flaws and security issues associated with these tools.

As the world of content creation and AI continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these developments shape the future of programming and coding.
