Udacity Offers More AWS Scholarships
Udacity has announced it is accepting applications for the next wave of 1,000 AWS AI & ML Scholarships. Any student over the age of 16 who self-identifies as under-served or under-represented in technology, and is currently enrolled in high school or college, may apply.
Udacity and AWS are committed to increasing diversity and talent in technical roles.
The news of the new scholarships follows the announcement that more than 1,000 people received notifications of their free enrollment in the AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program from Udacity through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML) Scholarship program. In partnership with AWS, Udacity has now awarded 6,000 Nanodegree scholarships that, if paid for, would have a value of $24 million.
The AI Programming with Python Nanodegree, which is at Beginner level and considered a 2-month program, teaches participants a variety of concepts and skills such as Python data types and operators, NumPy, matplotlib, backpropagation, and how to train neural networks with hands-on projects such as how to create their own image classifiers. All scholarship applicants are also eligible for free access to Udacity’s AWS Generative AI course, which explores the foundations of generative AI, emphasizing real-world applications.
“While job opportunities in technology are growing, women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disability, and people of color are underrepresented in science and technology careers.” - The Future of Gender Parity report by the World Economic Forum.
The AWS AI & ML Scholarship program aims to rectify this by helping underrepresented and underserved students in tech get ready for a career in AI with access to Udacity online learning programs and mentorship. Participants also attend virtual events with industry pros and have access to mentorship from both Udacity and AWS advisors.
Udacity’s AI courses are tailored to a wide range of different audiences.
Alongside the scholarships, Udacity has AI courses tailored to a wide range of different audiences, along with an All Access Subscription that provides unlimited access to its entire catalog.
Udacity’s commitment to increasing diversity and talent in technical roles is a step in the right direction. With the help of AWS, they are providing opportunities for underrepresented groups to get involved in AI and ML.
